ANDREW TRAUCKI
Andrew kicked off his film career running his own production company STILL LIFE VIDEO making bunches of music clips and corporate videos. In the mid nineties he co-produced and co-directed the award winning, off the wall, space musical TV series ROCKY STAR. He then took a right hand turn into the land of digital media and produced websites for companies such as Yahoo! and Fairfax digital until one of the numerous feature scripts he’d written, BLACK WATER was greenlit.
In 2006-2007 Andrew directed and co-produced BLACK WATER.
BLACK WATER has sold to 76 countries. It has received strong critical praise, won awards at MUFF and The Chinese American Film Festival and has been nominated for both IF and AFI awards.
THE REEF is Andrew’s second feature it due for completion in mid 2010.

"I find true survival stories absolutely fascinating.
The Reef is based on a true story. It is a thriller that captures the zeitgeist of the day. Reality is more intriguing than fiction. I also like most people find sharks compelling.
I think it’s odd that whilst the sea and especially sharks are a huge part of Australian culture and how the rest of the world perceives us we’ve never made a feature film about one of our most notorious cultural ambassadors.
The Reef swims the line between horror and psychological thriller, a terrifying tale of true survival.
A tale that for me asks the fascinating questions, what would I do in this situation? How would I react? Would I be a survivor or would I die?"
